2012 Favorites

As everyone is making somekind of best of lists right now, we would like to share some of the favorite singles and albums.

We start off by one of Joy Orbison productions, called Ellipsis. Joy released some wonderful 12” this year, both on SunkLo and Hinge Finger, but this was the one that we loved the most!

We will not surprise anyone with our next pick… Surely one of the best EPs of all time, at least in my opinion. Burial’s Kindred EP was magnificent, I’ve selected Ashtray Wasp here, but not listening and buying the 12” is a big mistake!

Robert Hood had both great album and singles, but his track “Motor City” grabbed my attention the most. Such a great synth interplay and melody over such a dirty beat.

And to finish off the singles list for this year, there wasn’t a track that was played and enjoyed more then Moodymann’s “Why Do U Feel“. It will stand as a all time favorite!

As for favorite albums – here are five the right now cross my mind, but there were a lot of favorites in 2012.

Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts – Twice Around The Sun

Francis Harris – Leland

John Talabot – fIN

Ricardo Villalobos – Dependent and Happy

Jin Choi – A Thousand Whales of Love

Robert Hood – Motor : Nighttime World 3

Cooly G – Playing Me

and many more to be honest.

Last but not the least, one of my favorite Essential Mixes of ALL TIME, Guti made amazing 2 hours of music here.
